Caltrans is phasing out this list of Warm Mix Asphalt Technologies and is no longer evaluating materials under the criteria that these materials were evaluated.  Materials on this list may be used on projects until their expiration date. An updated authorization criteria is now available and a new material list will be created based on the updated criteria.

Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) technologies allow a reduction in the temperatures at which asphalt mixes (HMA/RHMA) are produced and placed. WMA technologies must comply with Section-39, “Hot Mix Asphalt” of the Standard Specifications and approved by the California Department of Transportation ("Caltrans"). Caltrans may perform quality assurance testing to verify materials properties before use on any Caltrans construction project.
